We made a tree for our schoolroom. I'd like to eventually paint a tree but wanted to test it out without creating something permanent. The kids have really enjoyed writing down the books they've read on the leaves- each of them has a different color leaf, and read alouds are another color. It's a fun way of remembering what we've read and has brought back memories of favorite books we've shared, and it's created a feeling of accomplishment as each child finishes a book and then gets to record it. It's also fun sitting under the tree while reading.
What a fantastic idea!
ReplyDeletethis is a great twist to what we tried to do last year....just keeping track on a chart. this is WAY more fun! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea!! I like the 3-D effect better than painting it on the wall. What did you use for the trunk?
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with this idea!!!!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi, Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteI used cardboard for the trunk, curved it and stapled it to the wall. Then I twisted sheets of bulletin board paper I got from a teacher's supply store and glued it to the trunk and stapled the limbs to the wall. It was a quick and dirty way of doing it, I'm sure there are nicer ways to go about it- I'm not very nice to my walls.
I love it here. You now have a new reader~
ReplyDeleteI think your reading tree is a great idea, and it is really pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect! Very clever and fun, my dd who likes to peer over my shoulder while I am on the computer is jumping up and down, saying lets make THAT!

Oh this is simply amazing! Thanks for sharing this! I have been thinking through ideas on how to encourage reading with my kids and wanted something visual to help give them that sense of accomplishment. I love the fun you've tied in here! I can see my kids really getting into this. What a creative idea! Thank you so much for sharing this!
